Customising the index page.

I do not like the index page.

I just want to clear out the product table of and create a custom bit of HTML for this page. All the products are linked via the main site and there is not a big range and the products will never change.

If you mean another non Zen Cart page and you only want the add to cart and checkout functions then I am sorry to inform you that this is not how this is structured as it is not modular and must be used as your main site.

It is also not an html script... it is php and this for your purposes means that pages as you might be used to do not exist. They are assembled from many pieces at the server and then this assembled page is set to the requester.

It's not uncommon for those of us who find ourselves overwhelmed in one language to attempt to make our expertise takeover the unfamiliar territory.

You seem to be wanting to have the categories show when the site opens and nothing else. For this, you could create a "dummy" category with Desktop Lamps, Mobile, Floodlight, etc as subcategories. Have Zen open directly to the dummy category (switch in the admin) and it will show as you have it now. Clicking on Mobile would then take the customer to the products in that category.

Just a thought.
