OSCommerce to ZenCart

I'm interested in devloping a payment plugin for Zen Cart; OSCommerce already has one, would it be easier to try and convert the OSCommerce code? (I seem to recall a post about what to change) Or should I start from scratch?

If I start from scratch is there information somewhere as for the minimum for such modules that I could build upon? This will be my first venture so I'll wear it out on testing my own system. I have a demo account and such for the payment gateway so I'm ready to go!

I don't recall seeing documentation on how to write a payment module.
I think I'd start by using an existing module as an example and go from there. Maybe compare several modules to see the similarities as you go along.

I figured as much; I found one to start from. It's behaving rather oddly so it's going to be nice and challenging!
