I am running into an issue and I was hoping someone here could help. I sell various products, all weights and sizes. I like to offer a flat rate shipping ($5.99) since I feel customers prefer to know what shipping is up front.

On most items I am covered with the $5.99 shipping, but there are items (bigger, bulky, heavy, etc.) that can cost up to $20 to ship. On these items I am getting killed. I know I could increase my retail the $14.00 and bet set, but again I think if customers are price shopping they may skip past me since I am more than my competition.

So.... Is there any way to offer a flat rate shipping, but tack on an additional amount to certain items?

How I would envision this is when you are adding an item there could be a radio button (Addition Shipping/Handling Charges Apply) with a yes and no. If you choose yes a text box enables and you can enter the additional amount...

SO... Is there a way to do this? A mod, easy custom code... Anything?

What happens when you have 4 of these items with extra handling? Is this then $20 x 4?

LOL, guess I had not thought it all the way through.

It could be that it needs to come out to 20x4... If you are ordering 4 bean bag chairs and they have to ship seperate due to UPS shipping rules then it would be $20 for each.

Do you have any other suggestions... I am brainstorming to see how I can best make this work.
