    help question Sideboxes Shifting on Left Side

    I am new to Zen, but thought I had my site running well. Then I noticed that on manufacturer pages that list two or more products my left sideboxes are shifting off the page to the left. Not sure why or what to do about it.

    Also while I am asking is there a way to get the manfacturer image to be full size. It shows up correct on individual product pages but shrinks down to a thumbnail on the manufacturer page.

    Both problems can be seen here.

    Is this going to change the width of all my pages?

    Yes, by 100 pixels.

    Actually, something in your center column is pushing the size beyond your current 750px, but I didn't dig that deep. I did try adjusting the overall width to be large enough to give everything enough room. If you really want to keep the 750px width, some attention needs to be spent seeing whats going on in the center column.

    Changing the overall width makes the site look fine while you investigate the layout issue.

    I am trying out the 850. Seems to look ok although some of my images are not centered now. I am working on that. Not sure what the issue is. Thanks for your help. Any idea on the manufacturer image size issue?

    help question Re: Sideboxes Shifting on Left Side

    Actually, even after changing to 850 width there were still viewing problems on some pages. I think I need to find the deeper problem which is something wrong with the center column. If anyone can help i would appreciate it.

    help question Re: Sideboxes Shifting on Left Side

    Ok, 3 issues.

    1) I was able to turn off the descriptions in the manufacturer page center column, and that solved the problem of the shifting sideboxes. However now the products have no separation between them. Not the end of the world, but it does bug me. Seems there must be a place or file I can edit for this.

    2) Now when I go into my product pages in FF it displays them up beside the item photo instead of underneath and thus is under a sidebox. It displays properly in IE. Seems there should be a fixed width for the center column that would force the desciption to go down.

    3) As I stated in the previous post, the manufacturer logo is much larger then what is showing. Zen Cart must be reducing it for some reason. I would realy like the image file to be full size.

    To all of you who contribute to this forum, a huge thank you. All your posts have helped me get as far as I am without help. But tonight I am stumped. I hope you can help. Its 3:30 AM and I am giving up and going to bed.

    1) Add something like the following to your stylesheet
    .productListing-data {padding-top:5px}
    2) Both FF and IE are correct, they're just interpreting incomplete instructions differently. Adding the following to your stylesheet will remove the ambiguity
    #productDescription table {clear:both}
    3) If I have understood correctly the image to which you are referring, then you would need to go to Admin > Configuration > Images and look for the following settings:
    Category Icon Image Width - Product Info Pages
    Category Icon Image Height - Product Info Pages
    4) although you only asked 3 questions, here's the answer to the one you didn't ask ... to get your site to validate correctly tou need to remove the redundant </a> in your english.php's definition of FOOTER_TEXT_BODY

    kuroi, Thank you!

    All 4 problems are now fixed. Thank you for taking the time to look over my page. I fixed the random </a>. Not sure how it got there or what is was causing for errors but I appreciate you finding it.

    So what is the deal with all this validating stuff. I am afraid if that is something I am supposed to be doing I have dropped the ball. In fact I am not even sure how do validate my site. I validated my css using the web developer toolbar on FF, and it says I have an error that I can't find. It is probably stairing me in the face. But the site seems to work fine and look right anyway.

    Thanks again.

    Pages will often seemingly work fine with dozens of warnings and even errors, but sometimes one of those errors will cause a problem that may not even appear related, or different behavior in different browsers. Actually I think that's a major cause of different browser displays: browsers handling errors in their own particular ways.

    The Web Developer has a link to validate HTML as well as CSS, and that can be very instructional (if scary) to try.
