Switich between Templates

[FONT="Arial"]hi, currently i am using Red Passion as my template but i wanna switch to Apple Zen Template and then decide which one im gonna stick with. but my question is if switch to Apple Zen Template and if i wanna switch back to my original Red Passion template can i do that without losing the changes i already made? heres the site: http://prudentialintl.com/shop

The majority of settings are stored with the template using the override system that comes with Zen Cart and most of the templates in the download section are already structured for this.

If you have installed modules that predicated that you place files like in "your_template" folder then these files would have to be checked to see if there was already an altered copy of that file with the template and the contents merged.

And these module specific files would need to be represented(copied) to the appropriate folders for the new template.

Then the only other items that might be of concern are the column widths as some templates have graphics that require a certian setting or that you edit the graphic for another width.

Other than that switching is just a matter of selecting the template in the admin.

I have a question here
Lets say I commonly use three templates on my site T1, T2, T3 depending on the day of the week
Now, as I understood from the template overrides

I have to make as many files as templates even for common texts
For instance
/includes/languages/english/CUSTOM/meta_tags.php
in this case would be
/includes/languages/english/T1/meta_tags.php
/includes/languages/english/T2/meta_tags.php
Is there any way of defining the common text?

Easier to just copy these to each override folder.

You only have to edit it once and FTP this edited file to the 3 locations
