Default Shipping Module Help Needed Please

    Shipping Module Help Needed Please

    ZEN-CART Version 1.3.7
    Server IIS 6.0

    OVERVIEW:
My store owner is a photographer. He does not ship his products (prints of his images). Instead he has his images printed by a US based printing company (MPIX). MPIX ships the prints to the customers.

    DETAILS:
Customers view the images in the ZENCART storefront. In typical fashion they can use either PayPal or Google to purchase prints of these images (many sizes and finishes). The customer moves thru the ZEN-CART process; includes the shipping information and completes the order. ZENCART sends this information (the invoice) to my client (ZEN-CART admin performs flawlessly).

Upon receipt of the invoice, my client uploads the requested image to MPIX to be printed. The invoice includes important information that my client uses in his MPIX account:
    1. Size
    2. Finish
    3. Shipping

In short, my client does NOT perform the printing or the shipping; MPIX does that part. It is important to note that the shipping module does NOT have to calculate the rates. However, it must put the rates in the proper place at the proper time. (ZEN-CART does that flawlessly as well).

    PROBLEM:
When we first started using MPIX, they only shipped two ways domestic US - USPS and FEDEX, and charged a separate price for each.

    SOLUTION:
I reconfigured the flat rate method and the store pickup method respectively into FLAT RATE for the USPS, and STORE PICKUUP for the FEDEX. It worked just fine... no hiccups.

    NEXT PROBLEM:
Recently MPIX has included Canadian shipping. My client wants to be able to include Canada.

    QUESTION:
Is there a simple way to add a third method, similar to the methods used above?

In fact, is there a simple solution, such as some kind of drop down that includes any number of shipping methods for this situation (where the client does not create and ship the actual product)?

Thank you for taking the time to read this. Hopefully it is clear enough that you can help me.

Default Re: Shipping Module Help Needed Please

Several of you took a look at the post - and I appreciate the looking in..

I solved it. And the solution takes care of PayPal and Google.

In a nutshell, I added the Table Shipping option and changed the wording in it to reflect only Canada (don't ship anywhere else other than US for now). Next, I went to the Google Checkout (V 1.4) page and changed the table word in the array so that it told Google it was a Canadian shipment.

This ZEN-CART stuff is lots of challenge and lots of fun for an old geezer like me and I recommend that all of you old FA**S with nothing to do to try it out - it is great mental exercise, and there are lots of folks; young and old, greenies and veterans, high-schoolers and scholars of all nationalities and creeds who find this a great place to hang out, share, grow, and succeed in spite of themselves.
