    Default Product Dropdowns and chechboxes

Hi, I am in need of some advice as to how to create a drop down menu on a specific product, for example if a product has 5 differnt colours i want a drop down menu so people can select which colour they want.

The 'attribute controller' section of the Zen admin is confusing the hell out of me, im not even sure if that is the thing i should be using?

    Any help would be appreciated!

You'll need to establish an option name (color) and option values. After that, you can add them to the product.

I always recommend that the values have sort orders of 5, 10, 15, 20, 25 so that when (not if) you need to add mauve in between purple and red, you won't need to renumber everything.

The best trick (learned from ajeh) is to make the first value "Please Select Whatever". In this case you would probably say, "Please Select a Color." Make that option value Default and for Display only when connected to your product.

Now you have the drop-down AND the customer must actually select a color in order to purchase. This cuts WAY down on the "I wanted blue, not white."
    A little help with colors.

Yes, you want to be using the Attribute Controller. That does exactly what you want.

Take a look at this nice tutorial on it. This may help. Linda has done a super job explaining how to use that feature.

You might look at how this Attribute for Size is done and do the same for Color ...
