Hello,
I am setting up my first Zen Cart based website. In addition to Zen Cart, I am developing another PHP application. This custom application will not be directly related to Zen Cart.
My Question
I want to show Zen Cart boxes (Categories, Shopping cart, Search etc) on the pages of this custom application. How do I go about it?
Is there some way I can use the Zen Cart API to extend it and develop my own application?
I would appreciate any feedback.

Zen Cart is designed as an integrated system rather than an API. So it's usually easiest to integrate other functionality into Zen Cart than the other way round.
However, it is possible to extract some parts of Zen Cart for display elsewhere and there is an external sidebox mod that shows the way.

How do I add new pages similar to page_1, page_2? I want to add new pages and insert some PHP scripting in these pages?

Grab the "About Us" contribution. It gives you all the components of a new page.

Thanks for the reply Scott. I had already figured out how to add new page by copying page_4. Something very similar to your "About Us" contribution.
Can I add Javascript to the <head> tags of one these page_2/page_3/page_4 pages? I want the Javascript to available for a specific page only

Put it in includes/modules/pages/<your new page>. Look at other directories under "pages" for examples of how to do this (like product_info, for example).
