If it wasn't two of you having the same problem at the same time, I'd be very inclined to suggest that you do a complete file-comparison between the two installs just to be 100% certain there were no incomplete files as a result of an FTP hiccup.
However, while it "could" be a files issue, it could also be a hosting account settings issue too, which of course something I have no control over.
