Grrr - help needed

I have had zen cart on my computer less than an hour and already its annoying me.

I have managed to remove the welcome message and the tag "your message goes here!

What I have right now is a bloody big advert in the middle of the page for the zencart book
This shows as e-start-book.gif
The simple answer was to simply delete the image - but did this work ? - oh no !!!!

What I now have is a great big red X where the image should of been

Can anybody advise how to get rid of this please ?

This is where you have to settle in and do some work. All the resources you need are in this forum, and... in the book whose image you want so to delete!

I have found that the Developer's Toolkit under Tools in Admin has been of supreme help. I simply put in the word(s) I'm trying to find and it shows me exactly where they are located. Then, I can modify the file.

You will find that you have to make changes in the CSS file, templates, english.php, and some others. Be sure to set up the override system first.

With respect, you won't get much feedback by starting out with an attitude that the program annoys you. This is a very powerful program and the developers have poured their hearts out in it. But it does take work on the part of the user to configure it to suit. If you are annoyed after one hour, perhaps you should reconsider if this is the solution for you.

Did you try reading the text on the main page (right below that image) where it reads:

This file is located in /languages/english/html_includes/classic/

NOTE: Always backup the files in /languages/english/html_includes/your_template

Perhaps this will help you in finding the language file and that there is an editor for the /html_includes in the Tools ... Define Page Editor ...

NOTE: you should also be using templates and overrides ...
