Editing tables directly with phpMyAdmin

I know that many may cringe at this, but just want to know what are the ramifications of editing product descriptions (product already added) via the phpMyAdmin program.

I have many product descriptions to update with minor changes. Selecting product by product in the ZC Admin is laborious, so I figure I could just display the records using phpMyAdmin select the records I want to edit and paste in the changes to the descriptions. Walah! I could do quite a few in allot few clicks than if I used ZC Admin.

I just want to know what ramifications should I be aware of? What logic am I bypassing by updating the descriptions this way?

Of course I have a backup.

also I had the notion to do the same with the attributes_image. I started out using GIF now I want to change some of the file names to PNGs. Doing this through the Attribute Controller would be murder!

phpMyAdmin is a great fast tool for edits like that, I do not expect any problems.

A more user friendly tool (for daily usage) is quick updates: http://www.zen-cart.com/index.php?ma...roducts_id=101

For the image name edits you would need to make a small modification to the quick updates code though (currently it allows to browse the server for images but no direct filename edits).
