Product Description Truncating

We have a really long product description for some of our products and when I try to add the product description to Zencart it only shows the description up to a certain point. I am referring to the long description on the product_info page. I don't see why there would be a limit on the length of that. Where would I change it?

The limit is 64k on the products_description field ...

You can set this to longer if you need to write a bigger book on your products ...

Let me answer my own question as I just figured it out, in case someone else is having the same issue...

go into phpmyadmin (supplied by your hosting company), find product description, edit the field from "text" to "longtext" or "mediumtext". That increases that allowable size of the description field so that won't get cut off.

That worked great, Avarshav, thanks for posting the solution. You saved me an untold amount of work.

The reason my descriptions get so long is because I use tabbed products lite to load a lot of extra info in a description, while keeping it neat and organized. Should be good for SEO purposes too since google loves text.

Hopefully this thread is not dead now.

After upgrading to 1.3.8 it seems like LONGTEXT for product description no longer seems to work. The behavior is actually worse now. If we have an extra long description (due to compatibility lists) that goes over 64k it no longer truncates the description, but deletes it entirely.

This is observable by setting your product description to "longtext" then pasting about 100k of text into the description of a product. I have tried it without html characters too, just to eliminate that possibility.

Not sure what might be the issue.

Note that long description listings created before the upgrade to 1.3.8 (from 1.3.7.1) still display fine. However, if I try to edit one or create a new "long product" the problem appears.
