Images won't upload

Been uploading product images for years without any problems.
Just starting inputting this seasons new products and I can't seem to upload any images.
Click the "Browse" button next to "product image", find the image, click "Open"
The source path and filename show but when I click "preview" the image does not show.
There is no error message.
I click update and the style code is shown on the website but there is no product image.
I have checked if the image has been uploaded to the images folder and it has not.

I have checked all permissions on the folders and they are correct. (images folder and sub-folders set to 777)

I have checked disk space availability and there is lots of free space.

Any help greatly appreciated, this is losing me orders now.

I am experiencing image problems too, as of yesterday. I am wondering if it is a hosting issue?

Please PM me your Host name and we can see if it is the same host. Maybe that will narrow it down if they are the same host. I have not had problems until yesterday.

I found out that my problem was caused because I used a # in the file name. My issue is solved.

Always avoid the use of spaces, special characters and the like in filenames ...

Just wondering how using a # in the filename can cause any problem at all
Was it because of the ftp client used or its a php problem?

Given those two choices, I would say it has to do with FTP, not php. It happens that I uploaded the same images (with # in the filename) to a totally different site on a totally different server and the other site kicked back errors. I re-uploaded and the second time they accepted the images. I guess they just don't like special characters in file names...........

There are no #'s, spaces or other unusual characters in any of my file names.

What is the setting in the Tools ... Server Info ... for:
file_uploads

Have you checked with your hosting site about upload issues?

Checked that - set to "on"

I can manually ftp files onto the server so I don't see it being a hosting issue

If you manually load an image ... and type in its name on the add/edit Product ... does it show?
