No, not to the module but it'll be a problem for your Merchant Services Provider. Part of their security check is that the SSL cert name match the domain name so if
www.acmewarehouse.com
opens a merchant account then their SSL cert has to say
www.acmewarehouse.com
For example.

Ok I just spoke with VM and they say no it shouldn't matter.
My problem was that they neglected to turn on terminal access for me so now I am able to configure the referrers. I'm finally past the last error but now it won't accept the test credit card number and shows INVALID CARD
Getting closer.

tried both, same error
The first error message (with the 5000etc) says: Virtual Merchant - Credit Card Processing Error: Pre-Confirmation Checkout
Error RC=(-1)
Customer Error Message: The credit card number starting with 5000 was not
entered correctly, or we do not accept that kind of card. Please try again
or use another credit card.
Then I get:
Virtual Merchant - Credit Card Processing Error: RC=(1)
Customer Error Message:
payment_error=virtualmerchant&errormessage=INVALID+CARD&virtualmerchant_cc_owner =XXXXX&virtualmerchant_cc_expires_month=12&virtualmerchant_cc_expires_year=09&vi rtualmerchant_cvv_indicator=1
Check today's logs for more details. This transaction was either declined
or had an error preventing it from being processed.

btw, how DO you check the logs?
A log is written to the 'logs' folder under modules\payment
That might be an error being returned from VM; can you log into VM and take a look at their Error Batch?

I don't seem to have been given that access at VM
I only have set up stuff under Terminal with my login
Log-wise: I see virtualmerchant_today.php and vm_view_logs.php but each is 1KB. What should chmod be set to ?
