    Default More AustPost problems

I fixed the problems i had with this module before, but now im having another problem.

I sell nappies and when i list one i put in .5lb as the weight, but now with this austpost module it says:

ERROR:Unable to obtain a valid quote from the Australia Post Server.
Please try again later, or contact the store owner if problems persist. Invalid Weight Parameter

As soon as I add something else to the cart to make it 1lb it then works.

Does anybody know what I can do about this?

    Lee:)

The Austpost module, like Australia post itself, uses the metric system. IOW, you can't weigh your products in lbs and expect a valid quote.
The AustPost module gives you a choice of using grams or kilos.

Having said that, Zencart doesn't really use lbs or kgs, or any other weight denomination, it simply uses 'units'. This means if you set a weight of "0.5' lbs, for calculation purposes this would be either 0.5gms 500gms. I'm suspecting the former.

Hi Rod, I understand all of that but I have found that zencart is using lbs because when i go into my shopping cart and look at something i have put in 1 as the weight it shows as 1lb. I just can't figure out how to change this. Do you get what I mean?

No it isn't. It is using undefined units.

The "lbs" that you see displayed is simply a text string that is defined in the various zencart header files. If desired you can locate these strings and change them to "oranges", then all your products will appear to be weighted by 'oranges', BUT, the value you enter, eg, "1 orange" will be seen by the AustPost module as either 1gm or 1kg (depending on how you have it defined).

There are several threads and even a wiki entry that details how and where to change these text strings.

    Cheers
    Rod
