Default Corrupted URL during install on Zeus

    Hi

I've previously installed Zen about a dozen times without a hitch, but the last two times I've had the same problem on the same server. V1.3.7

I get as far as the server settings page then when I click "Save System Settings" I get a 404 error and the URL used is this
    HTML Code:
    http://www.xxxx.com/&virtual_https_path=https://www.XXXX.com/&virtual_https_server=https://www.XXXX.com&enable_ssl=false&enable_ssl_admin=false&sql_cache=/content/DesignerPlus/r/a/www.XXXX.com/web/cache&is_upgrade=
    which is obviously wrong.

I deleted all .htaccess files and set all direcctory permisions to 777 but the problem still persists no matter what server settings I use.

The previous time this happened, I created new config files using another cart as a template to get past the problem but would lke to avoid having to do this in future.

This is on a Zeus server with five other Zen installations running smootly. It is only the last two that have caused a problem during installation. I recently installed on an Apache server without a hitch so I know the fileset isn't corrupted.

Logic would suggest that a setting has been changed on the server since my previous installations, what can it be that would cause this sort of problem with an installation but leave exiring installs running fine?

Sounds like your configure.php files are incorrect on the server ...

    Hi
I am having the same problem --- I have already installed a zen cart on the domain name and am trying to install a second one which will have a prefix to the tables and will be in a different folder.
However I am unable to get past system set up as described above. Install is also on Zeus.
    Any suggestions most welcome, thanks

This is happening during installation so the config files haven't been created yet.

If you want a quick fix, then use the config files from your other ZC installation as a template and fill in the MySQL fields by hand, then install the SQL from the zc_install directory using phpMyAdmin. This will get your cart up and running.

It will bypass the problem, but it doesn't explain why the URL is being corrupted in the first place.

Have you reported this problem to your server admin?
Please do not PM for support issues: a private solution doesn't benefit the community.

Be careful with unsolicited advice via email or PM - Make sure the person you are talking to is a reliable source.

    Hi
Thanks for the replies. I have not reported it to the server folk as yet, but normally they wash their hands saying it's third party problem I am helping someone else so I don't particular know the support team.

As far as loading another site by hand and coping the config files etc I have tried that but I had several php errors, so I could try that again. But it still does not explain why it does not work, guess I will need to talk to the support team.
    Appreciate the comments thanks.

Are you enabling SSL during your install?
The badly formed url seems to be invoking a virtual secure server, and falling over in the process.
I've always found it a very bad idea to enable https at install time. Much better to get the installation up and working in vanilla http before adding the bells and whistles.

Hi Thanks for that you are correct about the virtual secure server as the hosting is on a cluster. ( I think that's the correct term)
I have tried not including the SSL but to date no luck. Do you think it would be ok to leave the https blank or put in just the domain name?
    Thanks for your advice.

During the install, you get the option to enable/use SSl on, I think, the server setup page. It's always a good idea to say no there so that the configure.php files have ENABLE_SSL set to false. Essentially, go as vanilla as possible, disable ssl, disable cache etc etc, and see if that works for the install
The url is being truncated it seems, is there perhaps some Zeus setting that limits url lengths?
