red flag Linkpoint & GoDaddy not compatible. Now what?

We apologize for the inconvenience, but we are presently unable to contact the Credit Card company for authorization. Please contact the Store Owner for payment alternatives.

Well, after endless days of diligent work I've come to realize that GoDaddy and Linkpoint don't play nice together b/c GoDaddy will not open up port 1129 on the shared host plan.

One alternative i know of is to upgrade to a dedicated plan, but that will cost $39/m...my client can't afford that.

Another alternative is to switch merchants, such as autherize.net, but if i told my client that he will have to set up another merchant account and cancel the one he just set up, he would flip his wig. (By the way does PayPal and GoDaddy work together?)

And the last alternative i see is to switch hosts. This could be a problem b/c all the zencart customizations i've made could be lost, plus i will need a new SSL and etc...

Has anybody been in this situation before or does anybody have any words of wisdom? How can i solve this problem without losing my shirt?

Thanks in advance for the help.

As long as you can make full backups of your files and your database, moving to a new host shouldn't be too hard, or risk losing customizations. You will essentially need to edit your two configure.php files to reflect the new paths for files and db. I don't know about the SSL cert.

You can move the whole shebang without losing anything - just copy all the files and get a good back up of the database - there are complete instructions in the tutorials/ FAQ section.

PS- have you done a search for godaddy and linkpoint?

and as far as the SSL certificate, thats not an issue either,
you will just have to get a recert credit from godaddy and re-issue it with the new CSR from the new host

We do it all the time when we move folks

    So you are advising

    1) i switch hosts
    2) backup database
    3) copy files & backed up DB over to new host
    4) request Godaddy reissue the ssl so it will work on a new host

#4 is the one i'm confused about... is that what you are implying when you say "get a recert credit from godaddy and re-issue it with the new CSR from the new host"?

thanks guys...things don't look so bleak after all.

Yes thats what I am saying

when you get to new host ask then to generate a new CSR ( and then have godaddy isue a regeneration credit )

you can then use the new CSR to generate a NEW crt

Godaddy has a “CURL proxy”, stuffed up my sites …
If your page times out it may be because CURL timeouts that suggest DNS or firewall problems. From what I gather GoDaddy may be blocking your site from talking to the server you want to get connected with..

Heres a thread that talks specifically about GoDaddy and CURL proxy setup:
