No Payment Method Install Button??

Install button does not appear in the payment module in the admin section of my live shop (shipping and other modules okay). A copy of my shop resides in a subdomain for trying new things before implementing to the live shop. The install, edit and delete buttons appear and work normally in the subdomain, but not in my live shop. I noticed this when trying to install linkpoint credit card processing - it installed in the subdomain, but the entire section to the right of the "Action" column is missing in my live shop! Can anyone tell me why this is happening?? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The directories:
/includes/modules/shipping
/includes/modules/payment
/includes/modules/order_total

are self loading directories ...

If you have incorrect files such as the lanaguage file vs the code file, duplicate files such as backups or renamed files with the same class etc. you will get errors ...

Check your directory and view the source and make sure each is the code file for your module and check the list of files that you do not have duplicates, backups etc.

Errors in the code of a module can also trigger this error ...
