Hi guys..first time post....I am completely new to e commerce (zencart)
Question is: do you need to also do my own home page in html as well as installing zencart...or can you just install zencart without any other pages...thanks

Zen Cart is a complete website. You don't need to make an entry page in HTML, but if you want a custom home page that has features different from other pages, you can do that. See my site for an example.

First is admin > Tools > Define Pages Editor, where you can edit define_main_page.php to put custom content and HTML or PHP code in the center column of your home page.

Read the FAQ/tutorials for more detailed info, and welcome to Zen Cart!

After you have done some studying and browsing (and searching if necessary), post with any specific questions you have.

It took many months of part-time stumbling around to learn enough to do my template right, but there weren't quite as many learning resources available then, nor as much on-line help and advice available.
No one piece of my template involves advanced coding techniques or database manipulation. If you learn about CSS, HTML and PHP, more or less in that order (try www.w3schools.com), and search and read the relevant info posted here in the forum and FAQ/tutorials, you can get up to speed much faster. Depending on what you want to customize, you might be able to get it in a matter of days.
