adding product to categories

does anyone know which fields in 'products', 'product_categories' and 'product_description' are updated when you add a new product to a category?

I'm attempting to write a script which inserts the contents of a text file into the zencart database for a client, I've tried using easypopulate but the free version was limited in features.

I'd love to develop this, if anyone has them?

I'm not trying to write anything major, its just a script to help a small project. However, I'll look at EP's code but I'm not familiar with some of the syntax past class knowledge
