1054 Error

WE have never used the coupon admin area until now and it is giving us this error. Does anyone know how to fix this so we can use coupons?

Coupon Name Coupon Amount Coupon Code Status Starts Expires Action
1054 Unknown column 'coupon_zone_restriction' in 'field list'
in:
[select coupon_id, coupon_code, coupon_amount, coupon_type, coupon_start_date,coupon_expire_date,uses_per_user,uses_per_coupon,restrict_to_products, restrict_to_categories, date_created,date_modified, coupon_active, coupon_zone_restriction from zen_coupons where coupon_active='Y' and coupon_type != 'G' limit 0, 20]
If you were entering information, press the BACK button in your browser and re-check the information you had entered to be sure you left no blank fields.

Re: 1054 Error

What version of Zen Cart?
Was this an upgrade from a prior version? Which versions?
What addons/contributions have you installed to the site?

Re: 1054 Error

Yes we had a much older version of zen cart and updated to the version that is found in cpanel that will do that auto upgrade.

We only have what comes on it, no extra things installed on the cart.

Re: 1054 Error

Um .... there's no truly reliable "auto-upgrade".

It seems pretty clear that something got missed in the upgrade. The most obvious symptom is the missing database field that the error message is pointing out. There could be a multitude of other things missed too.

I'd be inclined to say that the best place to start is to make sure you have backups of files and database, from both before the upgrade as well as current, and then do a manual upgrade yourself. Besides, to truly diagnose what really went wrong requires basically running through all the upgrade steps anyway.

Fantastico is fine for installing Zen Cart so someone can quickly install and see if it's something they'd like to use. That's about all it's good for. Their upgrades -- which I believe they state on-screen -- are *not* intended to be run on live stores. Their upgrade is *only* applicable if someone has installed a prior version just to look at, and wants to update that to the latest version. If they've customized anything, the fantastico upgrade is likely to break things.

Re: 1054 Error

Is there like one or two files we can just upload that will fix it?

Not likely.
Your original post mentions an error message that suggests your database structure doesn't match what it's supposed to be.
You'll need to use zc_install to fix that, or carefully analyze the database-structure of each table in your database vs the correct structure in the zc_install/sql installation files to see what's missing. You could have problems in more tables than just the one mentioned in your error message.
