Default Editing a template in DreamWeaver

    Hello Everyone,

I am a new member to the forum and a new user of the zen cart software. I have managed to install it and get a new template in place.

I have a basic question that I hope someone can help me with. I have a template that I got for free off the web from Interactive Business Solutions Co. called the "Darkness Template" and I would like to customise it. (Thanks to the provider, I will link to you from my site and acknowledge your template in the footer).

Basically, I would like to edit the stylesheet.css in DreamWeaver to determine what setting affect what parts of the page (background and font colour etc).

I can edit this file in DreamWeaver now but I have to upload it to my server again to see what effect the changes have had. This works but is slow as...

If someone could help me with how to open the site and be able to edit the stylesheet while looking at the homepage in real time that would be great.

    Thanks for the help.

Zen Cart does not work that way. All the parts and pieces are assembled dynamically during each page load.

    You have a few options:

    a) Grab browser source from each page and use that as your HTML content in DW to watch your changes.

    b) Use FireFox and grab the Web Developer Toolkit plugin and/or the Firebug plugin. These tools have options to let you edit and preview your CSS on-the-fly directly in the browser. Once you have it the way you want, you can copy/paste from your changes into something like DW to save and then upload your edits.

The latter is the most useful IMO.
