How do I set up SSL ?

I am in the process of getting my merchant account and gateway right now. I have been reading different posts and I have a few questions about setting up the authorize.net

1 . I noticed on a couple of postings that they were having a few issues with the authorize.net files in Zen-cart and I was wondering if I needed to download the updated files and install them BEFORE I try setting up anything, or only if it doesn't work - I am running zen-cart version 1.3.6 on my main website and 1.3.7 on my other website.

2. About SSL - I haven't set one up before on either website, since all payments were done on paypal, but after reading a post from Ajah, I definetely think we should have one for both sites, to put our customers at ease when filling out the new customer info when signing up on the website, and for them to feel safe with their shopping cart. What does it take to setup a SSL, do I need to buy a certificate from my webhost?? Will it affect my existing zen-cart websites that are already setup and running?

We are using myhosting.com on a Linux platform, Database: MySQL 5.0.18-Debian_9

And it says the following in my server/version info in the admin:

Registered PHP Streams php, file, data, http, ftp, compress.bzip2, compress.zlib, https, ftps Registered Stream Socket Transports tcp, udp, unix, udg, ssl, sslv3, sslv2, tls

Can't help with number 1.

As far as SSL, you don't usually have to buy it from your hosting company, but they will have to install it. It requires a static IP address.

There are a lot of companies which sell SSL certificates, and prices vary widely.

I buy mine from my hosting company. Pricey, but they're the best and cheapest host I've found, so I like to throw the business their way.
