Default Header image with clickable links in it...possible?

I have created a header image in dreamweaver with clickable areas in it and saved it as an html file. Can I replace a regular static header image with this html image? If so where and how? What pages need to be changed and what do I put in them? This is probably a simple thing but it is driving me crazy! Can this be used in my header? If not, what the heck am I doing wrong? All I want is an image with clickable areas in it.

here is my site (the header image doesn't show up though, just a red x right now)

Here is the image that I want to use at the top of my shoppe. http://www.shelbydesignshoppe.com/header.html
I guess I am just not referencing it correctly??

    Thanks so much!!

Rather than reinvent the wheel connecting clickable links as your picture shows, you can just use the top part as a static logo and use the ez-pages header navbar for your links, styling the ez-page links text to look like the ones in your pic.

EZ pages? I am using Zen 1.2.6 if that makes any difference.

Oh boy... That's a very old version, before ez-pages were added as a core function and the template system was reworked to modern div/CSS standards.

I couldn't give advice on that without a bunch of research. With the move to PHP5 that will be happening worldwide in the coming months, it won't be too long before v1.2.x Zen Carts will no longer be able to function. You really should start upgrading to a current version before it becomes an emergency. This will also make using handy new tools like ez-pages easy for you.

uh-oh. I really wasn't looking forward to doing that. I mean I want the new features and all but I really wasn't looking forward to the process. :-) Thanks for your help. I suppose I have a big project ahead of me. (well big for me anyway...maybe I'll hire someone to do it for me.)

From a look at your site, your minimalist template should be a breeze to recreate in v1.3.7. I would suggest making a test copy of your site with its own copy of the database, and try upgrading that. See the FAQ/tutorials and the wiki article "Making A Local Copy of Your Web Site".

ok, I have updgraded to the new version of zen and am using the gloss_blue template. Can you give me a little more instruction on what you were saying before about using the static image and the ez pages to create the links in the header image?

Also, where do I change the width of the pages? Right now it covers the whole screen and I would like to have the shoppe in the middle with the blue grid background covering the additional space on the sides.

    Thanks so much!!!

    In your stylesheet, find
    #mainWrapper

and change its width from 100% to 95% or 750px or whatever you like.
