Default I edited the original template, how do I create my own template from it now?

I have the original template edited exactly as I want it.

I did not save copies of my edits. I simply edited the originals.

How do I take what I have now and create a template from it? I need to be able to use my edited template on various installs.

    Thank you

You can just create /your_template/ folders as required, and copy (not move) all of the edited files into your template folders. Change /includes/templates/your_template/template_info.php to reflect your template's name etc., and follow the FAQ directions to turn it on and reset the layout boxes.

The edited files in the core template will not hurt anything, and it will not matter when they are overwritten during your next upgrade.

    Thank you for your reply.

I have followed the information provided and now have a Custom template!

However, when I switch to my NEW Custom template, my store looks the same EXCEPT the grid product display. My product listing is set to columns per row (3) but when I select my custom template I get only 1 column.

Am I missing something I should be saving to my custom template for this?

    Thank you

You need to install the Column Layout Grid mod in your custom template, or else copy its files into your template folders (effectively the same thing). I don't use that, so don't know what admin controls there are - perhaps you need to reset it to 3 columns while your template is active...
