button graphic for category links

I'm sure this has been asked before, in fact I've seen some of the posts, but I haven't had any luck.

I want each category link (and other sidebox links) to have their own background image. It would be nice if the image was hot (linked) in addtion to the link text.

I've tried several things, and haven't had any success.

I looked in the d/l section, but didn't see any mods or sideboxes that would help.

Categories Dressing has exactly the feature you are requesting.
Load images with the correct names corresponding to their category cPaths into /includes/templates/your_template/images/, and Cat Dressing will automatically use them as the image or background. For background images you need to include a declaration in the stylesheet for each category - there is no way for the code to automate that part. The entire image area becomes the link in either case. There are full instructions in the readme.

The standard function is to use the image or background as the entire image, including text if required, but if you want to have live text *and* a background image, the code could easily be tweaked to do that.

This does not apply to other sideboxes, but similar code could be extended to cover them.
