    Depended upon how high the load was. Most of the time it would just time out and you could not see anything. There were a few times the load was low enough that the page would load but you could not do anything or go anywhere else.

    Do you use a lot of attributes? No

    Do you have attribute-dependent pricing ? No

    Regardless of how absurd it seems this is what happened each time we had a store wide sale.

    Clarification: When I said "absurd" earlier, it wasn't meant as derogatory. I probably should have said "insanely long". I meant to convey that I agree that it's unacceptable.


    If you can do that price sorter reset, we'll know better what's happening.

    Sorry - I have no idea, since I've never seen it happen and don't see why it would have any reason to do what you described.

    I'd suggest just planning to keep a close eye on things, and if it does spike, watch exactly which SQL process are chewing up all the resources.

    If it were me, I'd be doing a simulation before the sale to try to isolate the problem. Perhaps take a full backup of files+database and install on another server , and set up a sale, let it expire, and see what happens. Of course, you'll need to be clicking around in the test store at expiry time in order to trigger and observe things.
