Default Default template edit... some suggestions to correct my error please.

My apologies for any redundancy as I am quite sure this topic has been addressed time and time again however I was unable to find a post that addressed the issues with the search terms I chose.

I have edited the Default template. This was before I had joined this community and realized that I had made an error in choice. What I would like to do is this.

I would like to retain the work I have done thus far.

What I have done thus far to attempt to correct my haste:
I have created a CUSTOM template as per the instructions in the FAQ.
I have also started to construct my CUSTOM template overrides.

So Far, when I switch to the CUSTOM template I assembled I get a multicolored mess with none of my customized define pages, css or block layouts. I have taken the CSS from the Classic contemporary green folder which is the one I assume I have edited as well. Not getting anywhere.

Any suggestions or links to a helpful post would be much appreciated. Thank you in advance.

My first suggestion would be to make note of all the files/templates etc.. you have edited. Most likely they are in the "Default" template folder not "Classic". Of course I don't know how you set it up.
If you are copying those files to the custom dir, make sure you grabbed the right copies. That may be your css issue.
Also, in your Admin->Tools->Template Selection... make sure you have selected your custom temp. It sounds like you already did that though by the multicolored CSS.

Hope this helps. Its a very non-specific answer, so if you need more detail let me know.

Thank you Sir, I will make sure I have not made this error. It's likely that I have done so.

I'll post a reply as soon as I figure out whether I have done so. I appreciate the suggestion.

OK I have figured out the CSS issue. I had edited the Classic instead of Template default. That has been added to my CUSTOM folder now.

Now how do I bring over my define pages and my sidebox settings to my new template from the default template?

    Got the Define Pages...

    Working on my Sideboxes now.

I had brought my define pages from default template instead of classic when adding my over rides folder. Im assuming I did the same for Sideboxes.
