Default Charge for Filling in Text Box?

I am trying to see how I should work this. I would like to offer engraving on our items. Can you charge for someone filling in a textbox for what they want engraved, or is there a way to "grey" the textbox on and off, depending on if they checked a checbox saying they want engraving?...as this is only an option.

I am also looking to do this exact same thing. I want to offer customized pottery, with one side included in the product. As an option, the other side can be customized for an additional fee, but I'm trying to figure out how to make the text field 'greyed out' by default unless the customer selects the option.

Attributes for TEXT can be charged as regular Attribute Prices or you can charge per word or per letter ...

    Thanks for the quick reply!

However, my customization is set up per side; The product is a customized bowl with a text box for whatever message the customer wants. Additionally, if they would like to add customization on the other side, they have that option, but it costs extra. I was just wondering if it would be possible to have the second side text box 'greyed out' or 'ghosted' by default unless the customer specifically chooses that option.

It would be blank if they do not fill it in ...

TEXTAREA 2 would only charge if filled in and would not show on the order if skipped ...
