Featured products missing

Not sure why, probably my hacking and slashing has done it, but my featured and New Products have disappeared from my homepage, even though in 'Index Listings' in Admin they show on. I might have deleted all the homepage code via the Define Pages Editor to remove all the Zen default stuff - would this have removed it?

Hope someone can help, apart from that it seems to be coming together

You wouldn't be able to remove these via the define pages editor. I would check that nothing untoward has happened to your tpl_index_default.php file, but without knowing what else you've done or seeing your site there's not much that I can suggest.

Thanks for the suggestion. I don't think I have done anything to that file. It was still in the template default folder so I dragged a copy into my template folder but it had no effect.

Actually your problem appears to be that you don't have any products at all, so there are no new or featured products to be displayed.

LOL that makes sense! I have added a test product and that shows up now

NOTE: the file you dragged into your template and override directory you should delete if you have not made any changes to it ...

Unless you customize a file, never add it as a template and override file ... you only need customized files to be in the overrides ...

It will make upgrades a lot easier ...

Do you know why I cannot have a Document General as a Featured or Special Product? Or is it me???

This was designed that way as the Products for Sale or that could be added to the cart were assumed to be things to be Featured or on Special and the Document General was assumed to be text content and not allowed to be added to the cart ...

So ... when a Product Type add to cart is blocked, the products are excluded ...
