Hi Isaacola,

I think that no one need the RSS mod. I say this because I have not received any answer to my question:



What are the problems in this module you encountered?

Andrew, I think because for so long so many issues have been documented in this thread that are still outstanding, people have probably ditched this mod. I know we were getting ready to ditch it as well because it's no longer stable.

Some of the issues, is the cache logic continues generate errors and nobody seems to know what's going on. Here is one example and there are tons of them:

Also, the buy now button sometimes display and sometimes it doesn't now really sure what the logic is behind it either. This also have nothing to do with products with attributes.

The product image sometimes shows as image and sometimes shows as link.

The new product and upcoming rss feed sometimes picks up newly added stuff and sometimes doesn't.

There are just so many inconsistencies in how this mod current functions.

What's wrong? What if this message does not work?

Almost all the errors mentioned here earlier, I was not able to repeat or on my Web sites or on a test site or sites of my clients. And no one gave me the opportunity to consider the error closer to the site where it arises. I even gave access to the test site for someone to reproduce even one mistake. But nobody could do it.

Minor errors, such as the quoted message, minor improvements I've made since the last version that was going to publish it, does not solve the described problems. Just because I can not reproduce these problems.

In this situation, I think you're right. Need to declare the module is not workable and just close this topic.

If you're have a site where this is working, I definitely want to see because I like this mod when it was working for us. I know there have also been issues with the TTL value with regards to the cache folder. If you have a beta version to test I'd be glad to test it as well.

I completely understand if it's not worth your time to maintain this anymore but it is indeed a valueable mod.

Our page is encoded in utf8 so I am not sure if this mod takes into account site encoding or not.

You only see the error in Google Chrome but it fails in all browsers

I see very strange things. My module is not able to do so.
Can you uninstall, download and install RSS Feed module? And not to change anything in it.

If you're have a site where this is working,

I could not get this error.

I did the following:
1. I downloaded and installed rss_feed_2-1-4
2. added product - http://test.zen-cart.su/matrox_g200_...011-p-193.html
3. edited product - http://test.zen-cart.su/matrox_g200_...82011-p-1.html
4. Both pages show only a single product:

Let me remind you, there is now an old version of rss_feed_2-1-4.

If you have a beta version to test I'd be glad to test it as well.

I do not have a beta version. I have a release with whom I work constantly. I wanted him to publish. I can offer it for testing.

My business is the creation, maintenance, development of online shops. I only use zen-cards. Therefore, to maintain and develop my modules and others - is part of my business.

but it is indeed a valueable mod.

I also think that this module is very important for advancement. My clients with great success using this rss feed for the export of new products and news to Facebook and Twitter, as well as export to various rss aggregators.
Similarly, the export new products, bestsellers, specials and other to the satellites sites, blogs and other promotional sites.
