help question How Do I Preview Template Changes in Browser?

    Hello Everyone,

I just created a new template for myself and I was wondering exactly what file I need to load in my browser in order to preview my changes in Firefox. I changed the background color using the stylesheet.css file and would like to make sure the changes took effect, but whenever I navigate to my /custom directory where the template_info.php file is stored, Firefox just gives me a blank white page. The background color should be dark grey.

Thanks for any suggestions you may have,
    Brad

Did you then enable this in the admin > tools > template selection > and edit > select your new template and update?

Also admin > tools > layout boxes controller > reset after you select any new template

Yes I did. I actually just figured out what I need to do. For some reason, I can't preview the actual template itself in Firefox after I make changes to it, so what I had to do was make changes to the template, then open up my browser and point it to index.php within my root folder. I guess I have to preview a page the template is based off of rather than the template itself.

    Thanks,

There isn't a preview on template changes ...

Your best bet is to clone your site with a new directory and database and work on your template and when done, you can add your template to your live site ...

NOTE: the safeway is to make a copy of the existing template with a new template name and build from there so if you do later add to your live site and things go boom you can just switch back to the previous template and figure out the issues on your working site ...

The "actual template" has no existence outside of being applied to a live Zen Cart page. It is just a bunch of files that specify how the page is to be presented, not a "picture" that is put in front of a page.
