Optimization Problem

I have noticed something that seems odd to me about the load time of Zen Cart. It seems like if it hasn't been visited for a while it loads really really slowly, but if it has been loaded recently you can hop around any page of the site fairly quickly.

I don't know a lot about php, is there some reason this happens with php? If not does anybody know anything about it, and most importantly does anybody know how to make it stop?

When a site is in use, your MySQL database is being cached ... as time passes and there is no activity this cache is gone and the next 1st hit of the day begins the cache processes again ...

If you were to go to your site the first time of the day, your site is slow ...

If you were to open a new browser window, NOT a FireFox Tab window, and go to your site it would be faster ...

In the first browser window click on All Products ...

Then, click the same link in the second browser window ... it is faster ...

Click page 2 in the first browser window ... then page 3 ... then page 2 ... notice how page 2 is faster ...

Click page 2 in the second browser window then page 3 ... notice how both pages are fast ...

Click page 4 in the second browser window ... it is slow ...

Click page 4 in the first browser window ... it is faster ...

Each select is being cached and "helping" speed up the site ...

If you have more users, things are faster as more things are cached ...

Also, part of this is related to how the server is optimized for MySQL to start with ...
