installation - directory structure

Hi -- new to the forum (and Zen Cart), old to computers. I recently tried to install ZC with dubious results, mostly due to files either: not downloaded from Source Forge correctly; or - not installed in the correct directories on my host. At the same time, I decided to ask for an upgrade to PHP5, which is now in place. I've re-downloaded the latest ZC install zip file - twice, unzipped both, did a compare and got identical results so I'm confident that went OK.

Now - my dumb question is: exactly where do I install the unzipped files on my host system? I thought I understood the install instructions and created a 'catalog' directory at the same level as my html web pages - e.g., .../.../mydomain/www/catalog/ Is this correct? I installed all the directories and files from the unzipped package there (using filezilla). I ran the install page and aside from some settings of the PHP4 installed at the time, it seemed to go OK, but... When I tried to load either the admin page or store page, the browser (firefox) came up with a totally blank file -- nada.

I'm about to dive into this again, but wanted to check on the file locations and whether there will be any problems running the latest release (1.3.7.1) with PHP5? BTW there are several Zen Cart installations running on my hosting service -- all the requirements are met and then some.

If you installed all the files in a folder called catalog, you need to go to www.yourdomain.tld/catalog to see it, or create a link from elsewhere on your site, like your home page.

If you intended ZenCart to be your home page, install the contents directly into ...../yourdomain/www/

This is not made clear on the installation instructions.
