MySQL upgrade killed Zen 1.2.6

When our host upgraded from mysql 4.1.14 to 5? Our Zen cart went down.

So now I'm looking at updating our Zen, but I cannot access the old admin to find out what add-ons were installed, etc.

Can someone tell me where I can look in the files for the info I will need to successfully move up to the latest version of Zen?

This upgrade can be a bit more difficult owing to the fact that 1.2.6 is table based and 1.3.x is div based - So depending upon your template modifications you might have little to alot to do to make 1.3.x look like your original site

I'm getting errors asking for currency and language even though these were set during the install.... This is fine except I can see no hints or clues as to what should be put in the strange text field boxes for these.

And my heart sinks as I envision everything I do with this new update version 1.3.7 being just as frustrating! Where is help? Were can I find some examples?

I search and all I find is instructions to fill in my currency as it should appear - how am I to know what to fill in..... yikes -

What version were you upgrading from?
What exact steps have you followed to get from "there" to where you are now?

Now I'm having a lot of trouble with the install - database - upgrade!

I see it says - Upgrade Sniffer predicts: upgrade v1.1.4 to v1.1.4_patch1

When I leave all the ones it selects checked and try to update I get this error:
062 Duplicate entry '1-1' for key 1
in:
[INSERT INTO zen_paypal_ipn_address_status VALUES (1, 1, 'confirmed');]

When I uncheck all but the v1.14 to v1.1.4patch1 it just reloads the same page, like I asked it to recheck, only I didn't, I clicked on update database.

So I am trying to update from 1.26 mySQL4 to 1.37 mySQL5 are there some step by step for this because that "3 easy steps" is sooooo not true!

Sorry Dr.Byte I am not getting email when someone replies and finding my posts again is still a bit tricky for me, but on to my more serious problems.

I made this post just after I had installed the new 1.3.7 Zen (setting up a new mySQL 5 data base for it, and switching my php to version 5 as well). Following the "3 easy steps" for updating (ya right)

The install screen said this was not an upgrade - oh well I thought. After I installed it asks you if you want to go to Admin or your store - I looked at both and it was in the 'new' store that I got these 'red' errors.... While looking for solutions I found a post by you that told some guy to go throught the zen_install again and update his database.

So I uploaded the zen_install dir again, and ran it and that's when it said I need to update my database - surprise!

Note: I had a working Zen 1.2.6 using mySQL 4 until my host updated their SQL to version 5, at which point my store went bye bye... I backed up the DB and came here for help, and I have been dazed and confused ever since (that's my sad story) and our free-school store has been down for over a month now.

I have optimized and fixed errors in the DB, which seems to make the install process run must faster, however I still cannot get past the update database screen. When I only check the v1.14 to v1.1.4patch1 as it suggests the page just reloads with all the other updates it says I need checked. When I leave all it checks checked I get this error:

Can't get past these two problems, can you help me?

If you were using v1.2.6 and it's prompting you to do a 1.1.4 step, then you likely have something disabled that was "added" in the 1.1.4 step and is somehow apparently missing at the present time. Either that or your site was upgraded from an older version and missed that particular stage.

I'm going to go out on a limb and suggest that you skip any upgrades prior to 1.2.6 if you are in fact using 1.2.6 database. So, start with the 1.2.6-to-1.2.7 step, unchecking all the others, and then once that one's done, do the 1.2.7-to-1.3.0 step, and so on, one at a time until they're all done.

I'm so confused, why was I told to set up a new DB and do a new install of the new Zen version, if this can just update my old? Why are the 3 easy steps really setting up a whole new cart and using many steps to do so and track and copy over all your customizations from your old cart to the new, and this is called updating.... it's a do over as far as I can tell. And then there is this, I didn't read anything in the 3 easy steps about this.....

Well, I digress.... I did as you suggested, but it still just reloads the page as if I clicked the re-check button instead of the update database button.

Any other ideas?

A couple more bits of info -

In the mySQL database admin for the old DB it shows 7 instances where more than one index key was created, or where a primary and index keys are both set for one column. I don't know what its talking about, however since my old cart is down I cannot go into Admin of the store that uses that DB and try to fix these.

And Zen Admin for the new cart has these errors:
Error Error: There is currently no default currency set. Please set one at: Administration Tools->Localization->Currencies
Error ERROR_NO_DEFAULT_LANGUAGE_DEFINED
Warning Your database appears to need patching to a higher level. See Tools->Server Information to review patch levels.
