Download corrupt

Makes you wonder how many people have 'suffered' without us knowing about it with free downloads.

I've just noticed a good way to 'present' the problem (maybe)

Create a folder on you local machine and set the folder properties to read only.

In theory, if you try to download a zip file and save it in that folder using FF you should get the download failed box.

If you select retry, the download box says it's now trying to download an html page and not a zip file.

Does this mean there's an html 'wrapper' that could be causing a 'feature'?

I have hosted my store with 3 different hosting companies and siteground is the first for this issue to appear. it's not consistent so it's always hard to duplicate but the one pattern i have seen is that it's the first product in their cart that they attempt to download is what fails. If they keep attempting to download it, it will continue to fail. If they move onto the rest of the products in the cart, they work fine.

I'm experiencing the same problem. My site is working fine until the other day when I and some customers (constantly) got this messages on my shop's page:

After that (and until now) my downloads were corrupted. The file icon doesn't even show a zip file icon. Sometimes the downloaded files doesn't have my file names in it but weird numbers as a file name, which I never renamed to. Sometimes when I manually associate the file to a zip program it extracts and opens just fine....but sometimes it doesn't. Same thing when I use download accelerator to download the files.

This is so frustrating for me for I am not a programmer. I had to close my shop to fix this.....and I do hope (and pray!) that someone might be able to help!

Netfirms.com is my web host.....should I change host? (sigh!)

Mine seems to work fine now (after gruesome hours fiddling around with my files).....although I don't seem to understand how all these happened in the first place 'cuz it works fine 3 days ago.

Anyways, my file naming was the problem. There shouldn't be any spaces on the files names including the folders and subfolders where you will upload your files....dash and underscores are fine but no other special characters. After that I was able to download my files again, even as large as 40mb.

Again I don't undertand how this happened but I hope that that's it....and that things will run smoothly in the coming days.

Which 'problem' is back?

There shouldn't be any spaces on the files names including the folders and subfolders where you will upload your files....dash and underscores are fine but no other special characters.

This is absolutely important for both: Directory & File names, be it for downloads or anywhere else within a Hosting account.

It is a "must" when Hosting on a Linux Server and good advice to follow if your Hoster uses Windows. You can also use numbers & Capitals within Directory / File name to help distinguish them from each other.

This is a database error/problem and I wonder how big your database is and/or how many products your Shop has?

Hi,
I am having exactly the same issue, my downloads gets corrupted after downloading. I've gone through all of the steps mentioned in this post but its still there, I am running:
Zen Cart 1.3.7.1
Database Patch Level: 1.3.7
Server Host: localhost
Database Host: localhost
Server OS: Windows 2003
Database: MySQL 4.1.14-nt
PHP Version: 5.0.4 (Zend: 2.0.4-dev)
HTTP Server: Microsoft-IIS/6.0
Please note, All of files are in ZIP format and no spaces or special characters in the directory or file names. Size is under 1 MB

Make sure that your Redirect is turned off as Windows cannot use it ...

Thanks for your urgent reply. Download by Redirect is off and Download by streaming is on, as i might have some bigger files.
