    Default Re: Download corrupt

    Hi
I am hoping someone can help as the problem with the 'corrupt downloads' is happening again after soritn git previously with the change of permissions in the 'pub' folder.

Individual mp3 files are Ok, but .zip and .pdf's are not - the same as last time!

The 'pub' permissions had changed (I don't know how!) back to 755, but I have changed them to '777' which cured the problem previously but not this time :-(

Anyone had the same problem and cured it?

I would appreciate any help on this! :-)

    Thanks in advance!

    Zen cart version 1.3.5

OK....please...at this point I'd buy stock in Starbucks for someone who can help me with the corrupt file download issue

The PDF files are zipped as well as unzipped.
both seem to be "corrupt" when people try to download the product.

    I'll contribute doughnuts.....

About 5-10% of my zipped file downloads are a problem. Its different files all the time.

The end user gets a message thet the zipped file is either empty or corrupt. They might purchase 4 (actually right now they are free till I get everything set up right) and only 1 of them is a problem. The others download fine.

I was using redirect - but changed to streaming. Streaming seems a little better (fewer complaints).

Is it an issue with my host?

My host (JustHost) completely passed the buck on this issue. Apparently there is "nothing wrong with the server - that is a software issue". Help. Ful. Not.

I am going to try changing to streaming to see if this makes a difference too, but I am also getting around 10% corrupt downloads.

I would use the Live HTTP Headers extension for Mozilla-based browsers such as Seamonkey and Firefox, to see what MIME type is being sent for these files.

Maybe there's a clue there, or somewhere else in the HTTP Header?

Please define "corrupt" as it applies to you.

    Hello all,

I m having a similar problem. I am just setting up my shop, and the downloads were working fine (I keep testing everything I upload, had a couple of test downloads as well and they worked fine). But suddenly it stopped working. When I download the file it is only 4 KB, when I unzip it tells me: download is invalid. If this helps, when I press download button and pop up window comes up asking me if I want to save or open this file, it tell me that the file is: VBScript Script File , and I don't know if it was like this before (I am not a computer person so not sure what that means). I tried downloading the files from my cpanel to my computer and they work fine.
I use download by redirect (though as I understand it won't work with windows, or am I missing something here?), cuz if I use download by streaming it doesn't work (it says the page can't be found), same is if both download by redirect and download by streaming are enabled.

    My info
    OS Windows Vista
Zen Cart Version 1.3.9a, new installation
    Hosting provider http://www.hostinginsiders.com/
    Browser Firefox

What I have tried so far to fix the problem (and it didn't work):
Changed permission of /pub folder and /download folder to 777
    Re-uploaded the files
Deleted the products and created same new ones
Zipped the folders again and uploaded them again
Tried changing the download options, by redirect, by streaming, both false, both true, one false and the other true
    Tried downloading from IE
Tried opening the file instead of saving it

What have I changed before the problem occurred:
I have been changing some file permissions to be able to change some things like banners, welcome texts etc.

    What I haven't tried yet:
Someone mentioned to upload files in binary format, now how do I do that?

I saw another user (TimS) post the same problem recently (but couldn't reply there), the user said that the downloaded file is only 4KB, just like in my case, when in reality it's much bigger.

    One more thing:
A couple of times when I pressed the download button instead of prompting me to save or open the file that I am suppose to download it prompted me to download the index.html file of my site (it happened more than twice).

I tried most of the same things as you and my files are saying they are 4kb too and then when try to unzip them they are empty.

    It is so frustrating ..lol
