Download corrupt

I am having problems with my downloads being corrupt sometimes. Some people don't have problems with downloading; others get corrupted downloads.

If you could test it for me and let me know if you get a corrupt file. I have two links to two free downloads. You'll have to create an account in order to download.

If you get a corrupt download, could you send me the file or let me know what is corrupt about it. Everything was running fine for a while and then suddenly it stopped working.

I have the downloads set for streaming at both sites.

I am also getting the problem of not shipping to your area error and I am the one trying to download the product. (shaking head)

What shipping modules do you have setup?

Are your Download products marked as:

Product is Virual: No, Shipping Address Required
Always Free Shipping: No, Normal Shipping Rules

Hi Linda,

These "free" products are strictly for testing and I personally didn't have any problem downloading them. The other products are not free, but are virtual. I do have them marked as no shipping address required. I realized the issue was that I had a paperback book in my shopping cart. However, I changed my address to two different, valid ones (one my mother's up north and the other a friend in TX) and still received the error. I have both UPS and USPS installed. I also have Zone Rates set up for shipping to Canada as the USPS won't ship to PO Boxes in Canada, and many other areas in Canada. Will this cause this type of problem?

I have considered setting up zone rates for the Western US and the Eastern US for USPS to see if I can get around this issue.

I have been querying customers who've had download problems to see what browser, OS and internet speed they have to see if there is any correlation between these and the download issue. There shouldn't be, but I am just trying to cover all of my bases. I am at the point where I would be willing to pay someone to fix this issue for me. I know Zen Cart works great for a number of people. I am trying to figure out how to make it work seamlessly for me. :)

OK....please...at this point I'd buy stock in Starbucks for someone who can help me with the corrupt file download issue

The PDF files are zipped as well as unzipped.
both seem to be "corrupt" when people try to download the product.

About 5-10% of my zipped file downloads are a problem. Its different files all the time.

The end user gets a message thet the zipped file is either empty or corrupt. They might purchase 4 (actually right now they are free till I get everything set up right) and only 1 of them is a problem. The others download fine.

I was using redirect - but changed to streaming. Streaming seems a little better (fewer complaints).

Is it an issue with my host?

My host (JustHost) completely passed the buck on this issue. Apparently there is "nothing wrong with the server - that is a software issue". Help. Ful. Not.

I am going to try changing to streaming to see if this makes a difference too, but I am also getting around 10% corrupt downloads.

I would use the Live HTTP Headers extension for Mozilla-based browsers such as Seamonkey and Firefox, to see what MIME type is being sent for these files.

Maybe there's a clue there, or somewhere else in the HTTP Header?
