Attribute OUT OF STOCK

Hi all,

Ok lets hope I can explain this right!

I have products, XS, S, M etc and do not want to display the amount of stock we have....rather I want only to display when each particular size is "Out of Stock"

so for example at the moment I have Stock By Attributes and it displays as follows:

Please Choose:
Size - Select a Size
- XS
- S
- M

I want it to look like the following if a size is out of stock

Please Choose:
Size - Select a Size
- XS (Out of Stock)
- S
- M

As it is at the moment, the customer has to add to cart only to find out that it is out of stock.

Does anyone know if this can be done?

You will need to custom code this in the show stock value area with an if/else condition that checks for "0" stock

Well I have not looked but would expect that this is a medium task and would involve several files.

There's no simple plug-in to do this, though I'm pretty sure one will appear when stock by attribute is integrated into core code in Zen Cart 1.4.

Currently there is no solution for displaying stock levels on the product info page for when products have multiple attributes, but there is a solution for products with just one attribute. This is described in one of the stock by attributes support threads (I'm not sure which - I recommend searching for "Grayson", the Zen Carter who derived the original solution, and then following subsequent threads to find out how it needs to be tweaked for later versions or Zen Cart.

Once you can display the stock, it's an easy simplification to suppress that information except when the stock is zero and then replace it with a stock out message or icon. I'm pretty sure that this has been explained somewhere in the support thread too.
