Custom Search Function

Besides the regular search function ,I want to add a Smart Finder box in the sidebox. Within Smart Finder box, which will browse/search specific product categories. For instance Cell Phone Accessories, Batteries, etc.

How can I do it?

Any suggestions/guidance as to where the settings/configuration for the Advanced Search are located?
