    Default Images

I now have about 1000 items in my cart (2400 or so to go) and find that it's getting slower to add the items.

From the sample products, I see there is a way to upload images to each category instead of uploading all the images to the default directory.

How do I do that? I don't seem to be able to create a category called Bed & Bath or anything like that.

    Thanks
    Robert

Create directory names with real names that servers like:
    /images/bedbreakfast
    /images/mystuff
    /images/something

    /images/medium/bedbreakfast
    /images/medium/mystuff
    /images/medium/something

    /images/large/bedbreakfast
    /images/large/mystuff
    /images/large/something

I am assuming you mean your FTP directory is slowing down ...

Speak to your hosting site about a slow server ... I have clients with 1000s of images and they don't get slowed down ...

That looks like a lot of work. I was hoping ZC would do that.
Do I need all those directoires even if I only have on image per item?

The images are autoloading based on the products_image for the small, medium, large, additional images and additional large image ...

You can use just one image, but you don't want a huge image used that gets smushed to be small, medium and large ...

You can use them as you like ... this might give you a better idea of how they work:

If it will work for you to have the main image on the info page the same size as the images on the listing page, you can eliminate the /medium/ folder and ZC will use the small images there. That will cut out 1/3 of the uploading. Of course this will not be right for everyone.
