Fast and Easy Checkout

FEC is being used along with checkout without an account. I noticed alot of abandon carts on my website. I finally decided to email the customers to see what is going on. They are unable to login and also when they sign up and click continue it just refreshes the screen and everything is empty and never shows that they were are logged in, which they are not. THis is occuring in google chrome

Installed Fast & Easy Checkout. Problem I have: Shipping is always pre-selected and can not be changed by the customer. It always sends the pre-selected shipping to PayPal. What's even more interesting is the pre-selected and non-changeable shipping method is pretty much always different.

It's very frustrating, as it is a jewelry website and this happened a few days before St.Valentines.

Does anyone know where I should look for the problem? I even followed the steps in the "eliminate pre-selected shipping" thread here: http://www.zen-cart.com/forum/showthread.php?t=90218 to no avail.

If I understand what you mean that is the way FEC works, it will default on the least costly shipping method. If it does not default on a selection your customer could place an order with out paying for shipping.

STEP 1 is the shipping section where the customer selects his choice of shipping if he does not want the default.

Step 2 is Payment section and if customer is transferred to PayPal he must return back to STEP 1 Shipping section to change shipping method.

I would add a note at the PayPal button telling customer to be sure Shipping method is correct before going to PayPal.

You need to turn off the PayPal button so it will only display in STEP 2 the Payment section. This way customer may change shipping method before selecting payment method.

In your Login for new customers I would put the checkmark back in for Shipping address same as Billing. The customer can always un-check if they have shipping address different.

And, that's the problem - in STEP 2 the customer can NOT change the shipping method, although the radio buttons with all other options are there, it always goes to STEP 3 with whatever the initial pre-selected shipping option was.

In other words, customers are stuck with one shipping option, which they can not change.

Btw. I reversed the changes in the tpl_checkout_shipping_default.php that I made to eliminate the default shipping pre-selection. Still no change in the way it works/doesn't work.

I've pretty much run out of options. No reply from the Numinix support thread.

In the Paypal payment configuration (payment modules) you can choose for Paypal to select the cheapest shipping option, is it possible this has anything to do with it?

When I login to your site last night I had no problem changing to different shipping methods on the "checkout" page. Another problem I noticed you had with FEC is the CSS/JQuey was not working.
Again once your customer leaves zencart "Checkout" page and is on the PayPal payment page the customer has to return to zencart "Checkout" page to make any changes. FEC was working OK except for the things I told you.

CSS/JQuey gets turned on when the "One Page Checkout" is set to true. When it is it goes to a blank page with "Your order is being processed, please wait..." displayed, and it never goes any further.

The only way I found the FEC can take me all the way to PayPal is if the One Page Checkout option is turned off. I don't have any idea why this option is not working, and I couldn't find anything definite on the forums while searching for it.

Design75, I tried this with the PayPal configuration - nothing changes.
