How to use images instead of text for header menu links

Hi

I want to use images instead of text for Header menu for product categories. I have tried to tweak the background properties of the style for the links but it doesnt work.

The Categories Dressing mod does this for the categories sidebox, and the relevant part of the code could probably be transferred or adapted to the categories-tabs menu.

Can Categories Dressing mod create another Categories sidebox? So it would be like...

It can't create a separate sidebox by itself. It can give the look of as many separate sections as desired using specially styled non-linked headings, but they can't be moved independently (without special stylesheet/coding like this). Styling separate borders around each section would require a bunch of code added to tpl_categories.php.
