Default Adding email attachment to Contact Us form

I've looked everywhere but cannot find any info on adding an "Attach File" field to our contact us form. I'm looking in the following files, but I just don't have the know-how to get the coding right.

    includes/languages/english/contact_us.php
    I've added define('ENTRY_ATTACH','Attach File:');

    includes/modules/pages/contact_us/header_php.php
I've done nothing to this yet.

    includes/templates/template_default/templates/tpl_contact_us_default.php
I've done nothing with this yet.

    Help?

    Much appreciated,
    Lisa

If you were hoping to have the uploaded file included as an attachment to the contact-us email, you should note that as of Zen Cart v1.3.7, there is not yet support for emailing attachments. That may change in future releases.

What is the business need you're trying to solve? Why have you decided that an attachment is the route to pursue? Is there another way to get to a similar end result?

We are a boat graphics business. We offer free mock-ups to our customers if they email us a picture of their boat. Many customers try to send them via the contact us page and are confused why they cannot add an attachment. We did state that they have to send us an email, but some of our customers are not very computer savvy and we thought the contact us form would be easier for them.

One way you might work around this, which actually gets you more useful customer data in the process, is to have them "order" the mockup.

    ie:
    - set up an Option Name "Artwork", with type set to "File"
    - create a product in your store named "Free Artwork Sample"
    - add a new attribute to your Free Artwork Sample product, using the Artwork option from the list. Leave all the other options set to defaults EXCEPT mark it as a Required item.

Now tell customers to Add that product to their cart, and complete checkout. While adding to their cart, they'll be given the option to upload artwork.
Now, since you've collected all their contact information during the checkout, you'll be able to consult with them more easily if you need to do follow-up, ask questions about their wishes when making mockups, etc.

The file they upload will be stored in the /images/uploads folder, and the filename will be listed in your Zen Cart admin as part of the order details.

Actually, that might be a good idea. It may filter out the "tire kickers" if they have to set up an account with their personal information.

    Thanks!
