Image Titles Support Thread

Thank u Glenn for the quick reply. I have the images saved here:
/public_html/includes/templates/avonlee_contempo/buttons/english/boxhead-categories.gif

The Better Categories must have already been installed on the template, I haven't installed any modules.
When I log into the admin, go to modules, the Images for Titles is not showing, even though I've uploaded it through FTP several times.
I haven't tried uploading any other images, I suppose I could try that too.

There is nothing in the admin for this mod, so of course you are not going to find it mentioned there.

There are two mod files that changed for v1.5.0, product_listing.php and tpl_product_info_display.php, but they each had only one security improvement and product_listing.php had a minor behavior improvement; none of these would affect operability in v1.5.0, nor do they have anything to do with the mod function. Are you certain that the mod files are complete and in the right places?

Hi all,

I've searched the forum but could not find my particular question.

I would like to add a shopping cart icon next to the "Shopping Cart" text in the Shopping Cart Sidebox (without replacing the text).

I understand The Images for Titles mod replaces text for images, which is not what I want to do, just add an image before the text.

Could anybody please advice?

You don't need any added mods of any kind for this; a simple rule added to your stylesheet will do it.

#shoppingcartHeading {padding-left: 45px; background: url(../images/your_categories_image.gif) no-repeat left center;}

Adjust to taste.
Check that shoppingcart is the id of the sidebox.

Hi Glen, Is there any way to use "Image Titles" for the names of the top level categories in a sidebox? (Not the header on the sidebox, but the actual category names.) I'm working on a site with only a few top level categories and they want them to appear as images in the left sidebox, but the sub-categories below them would remain as regular text. We want this only to affect the left sidebox category names. I would think it would require modification to:..includes/templates/templates_default/sideboxes/tpl_categories.php (in a custom directory) in the section where it loops through category-top, but I'm not sure how I would get it to replace multiple category names or ids with images. Any help would be appreciated. I have downloaded the plugin and read the instructions, but can't quite see how to make it do this.

For that function, you would install Categories Dressing from Plugins. One of its many abilities is to use an image for the category names. You can even use a background image so that it changes on hover, if you want. The mod readme describes these functions.

Hi Glen. Thanks for your prompt response. I tried Categories Dressing and for some reason it didn't replace the category names with an image. I will have to go back and try it again. I probably did something wrong when I implemented it. (I'm the same person you helped yesterday with the EZ-Pages Improved Menus plugin. <g> It works perfectly now, thanks!) The results I got earlier with Categories Dressing didn't replace my category name with an image, but it inserted an image above it.

Here's a partial screen print attached to illustrate what I mean. See how the actual category name still appears under the image? The image is not a clickable link, only the text category name below it is. I still have to replace the sidebox header text for the word "Categories" with an image, but I know how to do that. I will have another look at Categories Dressing, because I did originally think it was the plugin that would achieve that. It seems very flexible and I thank you for all your really useful contributions.

Did you perhaps make a define statement for the category heading? The image replacement works strictly by checking to see if there is an image named according to rules matching the category being processed; no defines are involved.

Hi Glen, We got it working under Categories Dressing on our 1.5.1. cart. We had misunderstood something in the instructions when we tried it earlier. Thanks again for your help. :0)
