    Default Adding a size attribute

    Hello,

I would like to add a "Size" attribute to one of my product categories, so that all products within that category have this attribute.

Basically I need users to be able to pick between Small, Medium, and Large sizes. This needs to appear as a dropdown menu in the product's page.

I added the option, the option values, and then used the controller to add this option to one of my products however it forces me to pick one option value (?) and then on the product page it just shows a radio button with that option selected. I need the user to pick the size from a dropdown instead! How would I go about doing this?

Thanks in advance for any help/insight you might be able to provide.

Also, I need to add a "hidden" attribute to some of my products. The store in question offers many rings, but I need to be able to sort them by a "stone" category, that should also be pre-set (as opposed to the size attribute which needs to be selected by the user) and displayed on the product info page as text (something like "Stone type: Topaz", right under the product image).

I don't actually want to make this a category that appears in the sidebar but I do want to be able to search by it and list, for example, all the products that have a particular stone in it.

Any idea how to do this? Many thanks in advance for your help!!

You have to go back and add each value one at a time in Attributes Controller. When there is more than one, the radiobutton will change to a dropdown.

Once you have this set up properly for one product, you can copy sets of attributes to others in bulk.

Unfortunately, there is not a way to search by attributes at present. One of the attribute mods may do this; search in Downloads.

Thanks for your help! How would you then recommend I go about listing all the products with a certain attribute set? (in this example, all the products with attribute "stone" set to "Topaz")? Is there a way to make hidden categories that can be linked to but don't actually show up in the menu/sideboxes?

You can hide a particular set of categories in the categories menu. See Howto: NOT list category on sidebox ? for an example.

Thanks again!...Also, is it possible to set attributes to all the items in a certain category in one go without actually setting them 1 by 1 for each unique item?
