    Default Cannot add new categories!

    Ok, I know what I've done wrong, but is there a way around this?

    I've setup a fresh install of Zen Cart (1.3.7.1) and added 13 products to the 'top' level. Now I would like to add 2 categories and move these products around. However, the 'new category' button is not visible.

    I'm also presented this message.

    WARNING: You have Products in the Top Level Category. This will cause pricing to not work properly in the Catalog. Products found: 13

    Create a new category called test, move your products into it, add your sub cats and then move the products into the correct places. Delete the test category when finidhed.

    It appears that by adding products to the 'top' level, the normal 'new category' button on the admin/categories.php page is hidden.

    Unless I add this 'test' category by editing the database in phpMyAdmin, which is probably what you meant! :)

    Yikes! Are you saying you added products without any categories? If that is the case, I think you will have to delete the products and start over.

    That's what I did!

    I was under the impression that I could move them afterwards.

    In the past I've had a few categories within the 'top' level and then created a product within the 'top' level and then moved it to a category. This method has always worked fine - as I've had other categories to move the product to and the 'new category' button has always been visible.

    Obviously, it works differently if you add your products first and then your categories.

    Well... I've learnt something new today! :)

    Glad you got it sorted out. Just remember to always create a category to hold the products.

    Hi, you do not have to erace the products, you have to dissable. I erase a few prior to figure this out. ohy.
