    Default updating database

    I have installed zencart on my hosting server. The installation is successfull.
    And I have also installed it successfully on my local computer.
    both have the same database definitions.
    Now I when replace the server database with my locally installed zencart database it gives an error.

    I have created some new menu links in the admin section, and this is successfully working on my local computer , but when I replace these changed files on the server it does not work. Here only the skin related changes are made no change in database.

    Please suggest me the correct possible way to implement the new db as well as the new files.

    1. What did you do to create new links in the Admin?
    2. Were these changes to Admin links or to Catalog links?
    3. How did you replace the server database with the local database?
    4. What changed files did you replace?
    5. What does "it does not work" look like?
    6. Do you get errors, or just no evidence of the changes that you made?

    Thanks Kuroi for your quick reply

    can we first solve the problem of database.........

    To change the database on server I import the sql script

    of the local computer in the server database
    and it just replaced the all the tables with data.

    after that the error generated is:

    //ERROR
    0 DB_ERROR_NOT_CONNECTED
    in:
    [select * from facelift _project_version WHERE

    project_version_key = 'Zen-Cart Database' ]
    If you were entering information, press the BACK button

    in your browser and re-check the information you had

    entered to be sure you left no blank fields.
    //--

    I also compared both the database tables and data but

    could not find any difference.

    The answer to your problem is going to be in the details.

    How did you create the SQL script that you are importing to your hosted server?
    Is it dropping and replacing the database and tables, or just the tables?
    Did you also copy your configure.php files from your local computer?

    Default Re: updating database

    The sql script from the local database was successfully imported on server database.
    now I have 2 database on the server.
    one created while installing zencart and other imported
    I then changed the configure.php of the server to use the database imported from the local computer.

    on my local computer I have setup the zencart and made changes as well as add my categories and products through the admin setting according to the features required.
    Now I want to use this local database on server so that I don't have to again go through the admin setting and make the changes or add categories.

    my local computer is windows based and server is Apache/linux

    and also when I m using the server database with my local computer the zencart is working perfectly but viceaversa is not working

    plz help
