I have images set up for each catagorie. How can I make them larger? Images look a little distorted, could it be because the size of box is too small for the 900 pixel image that was uploaded?

admin > config > images > you can set the size for any here - Just insure to retain the proportion

Some of your category images are 100-400k or larger. Those will be distorted (pixelated) as the user's browser hastily crams them into the thumbnail size, but will still take as long to load (each) as a full-screen image.

Resave your images as 2-10k thumbnails of the pixel dimensions you want, and use Configuration > Images to set default image display sizes.
