Can only send emails to groups?

Hi,

This is a weird one. but the customer is kind of freaking out.

She receives all notifications fine
Can send to any of the preset groups fine.
Can send to test email group fine.

But can NOT send an individual email to a customer.

it says:

Notice: Email sent to: [email protected] (0)

no matter who i try and send it to.

my email options are all standard, and seem to be otherwise working fine.

can anyone give me some advice?

What version of Zen Cart?
What are the settings in Admin->Configuration-> Email Options? (except the password)

Can you give a step-by-step click-through of how this happens ... starting from Admin login?

Absolutely,

When I log in. I go to Send Email.

I select a customer.

Fill in the html code, and text code separately. (i've tried all combinations)

When I click send it says:

Notice: Email sent to: [email protected] (0)

If I send it to a group, test accounts, or administrator. it says:

Notice: Email sent to: [email protected] (1)

and works perfectly...

so weird...


(i've tried sendmail, php, and smtpauth. all same results)

Was this site always v1.3.7, or was it upgraded from prior versions? Which versions?

Always been 1.3.7

My only thought is, I have the newsletter subscription mod installed.

maybe i overwrote something?

I just can't imagine how it would affect emailing individuals, but not groups.

Actually it could ... since the newsletter subscribe mod changes the default methods for determining recipients. Specifically, it alters the includes/functions/audience.php file and the query_builder table contents.

It's been a long time since I used it, but I suspect those are the places to go looking.

However ... if it's necessary to send to a specific customer ... the question becomes *why* ... and how often is this necessary?

Those are the two files I'll start looking at.

And yeah, i think the same thing. But if your customer thinks something is broken, they think everything is broken.

Newsletter subscribe mod alters the audience select and also makes some changes to functions_email, the email send routine, so it is possible that it is messing things up, although I've never had that problem with it.

When you send to a group, does it send to ALL members of the group, or does it miss out the first or last one. I'm just wondering if there is a loop somewhere that is expected to execute at least once, but this is not happening if there is only 1 entry, i.e. a fencepost type error.
